Please explain your experience: This story happens over a few years I was dating my boyfriend (off and on) from my junior/senior year of high school Doug. Doug’s dad, shortly after we started dating and before I’d actually met him found out that he had a cancerous brain tumor. He had limited time to live but lived the last few months doing what he wanted. Doug and I were constantly hanging out and I was always invited to every family function they had while we were dating…the whole (very, very large) family knew me. His Mom didn’t like me at all. She assumed we were doing bad things and she felt I was taking her son away. His Dad however always said “This one’s a keeper, Doug.” He would tell the rest of the family about who Doug’s dating and even protest how his wife felt about me. He died shortly after and it wasn’t as peacefully as it could have been. He started to get mean and he wasn’t himself towards the end so it was very hard on the family. I was always around helping out; trying to offer everything I could to make life easier, even though Doug’s Mom seemed to hate me. After graduation my Mom kicked me out of the house (we never got along) and I had two options: A. live with one of my friends until I found a place or B. Move in with Doug. Since I’d been helping around the house and they’d lost their single income his mom was convincible…I moved in for 1 month and found an apartment near school with a friend. We ended up parting ways after I was living at my apartment for some time and actually weren’t speaking at the time of my “visitation”. Here it goes: I was completely asleep one night…around 12 a.m. (cheesy coincidence, I know) I had a dream that I woke up and saw Doug’s Dad standing in the far corner of my room, just sort of watching over me. I acknowledged his presence and either said “Hi” or waved and fell back asleep comforted. It seemed like immediately after I’d fallen back asleep (Clock said 2:30 at this time) I was awaken again by Doug’s Dad standing by my bed shaking me, but without using his arms. I felt the pressure of hands on my right arm and could physically feel myself rocking back and forth. I woke up and he stopped rocking me…and was no longer in my room. I felt that this was a warning. Normally this sort of thing (weird stuff has happened a million times before) would scare me so much so that I wouldn’t get out of bed or even open my eyes. I RAN as fast as I could to my roommates room, woke her up, explained what had happened, never talking about this weird sort of thing with her before, she thought I was absolutely nuts…I agreed and asked that she stay awake with me while I calm down for a bit and she did. I then got an overwhelming urge to lock all the doors (usually unlocked) and windows and I did, then I started to feel calmer. After that I checked the stove and unplugged the hairdryer (just in case) and went back into my roommate’s room. I sat down and the fire alarm in our apartment went off for about 3 seconds. Then all the other fire alarms went off in the other apartments in the same building for another few seconds. By this point I had accepted that it was some sort of warning and wasn’t as scared as I originally was. I let my roommate got back to sleep and I went back to my room. I was seriously spooked though so I kept my light on and stared at the back of my door for just about 30 minutes. I thought “This is ridiculous” and decided to sleep. The reason why I’m posing this now is because recently I went on the watchdog website that tracks sexual offenders. I put in my old address…and apparently I lived upstairs from a convicted rapist. I really think that this “visitation” saved me and/or my roommate.
