Sierra Entertainment, a division of Vivendi Games, has announced the plans of developing Ghostbusters The Video Game, which is based on the classic movies that were very popular amongst the audience.
Welcoming the idea, the original cast of the classic Ghostbusters films, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson will join the team that creates the game, 20 years later, lending their voices to the characters in order to give the fans a special gaming experience.
Along with the player, Annie Potts, Brian Doyle Murray and William Atherton will also join the ghost bursting crew, which will hunt, fight and capture different types of ghosts, helped by a wide range of unique weapons and gadgets, in their attempt to save New York City from the latest paranormal anathema.
"Sierra Entertainment is extremely excited to not only deliver fans, old and new, this next chapter in the Ghostbusters universe, but to allow them inside the universe for the first time," said Martin Tremblay, president, Worldwide Studios for Sierra Entertainment.
"Our collaboration alongside Terminal Reality and Red Fly Studios also includes working closely with the team at Sony Pictures Consumer Products. Together we will create the ultimate Ghostbusters experience, full of the characters, ghosts and other paranormal creatures so many have come to adore over the years."
The plot and the script of the game is signed by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, who also scribed the scripts for the films. They will create a unique experience and gameplay environment that will recreate the crotchety atmosphere of the films, enhancing the game with new adventures and elements.
The Terminal Reality studio developed Ghostbusters The Video Game, which will make its debut on the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC, while Red Fly Studios will develop the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, Wii and Nintendo DS versions of this seminal entertainment brand.
The game is set for release in the fall of the next year, aiming to draw the attention of Ghostbusters fans through its high fidelity to the true story and idea of the game, trying to develop an action game that is funny as well.
