Mike Otten, right, and Quinn Fryman of Kettle Moraine Paranormal Investigation inspect a hinge on a door at the Old Jailhouse that had unusually high magnetic readings. They were checking out the old building for supernatural signs.

Nearly imperceptible rumbles of thunder are barely heard inside the Old Jailhouse in West Bend, itself barely lit by the failing sunlight Saturday.
Standing silently in what used to be the jail keeper’s living room, Michael Otten of West Bend and Quinn Fryman of Oakfield inspect the room. Then they stand still.
"Is there anyone in this room?" asks Otten.
Silence.
"Do you have a name?"
More silence.
Otten aims a digital camcorder at a rocking chair in the corner and the two move on to the next room to continue their investigation of the paranormal.
"People have claimed they’ve heard people going up and down stairs (at the Jailhouse) said Lisa Rodgers, director of marketing and development at the Washington County Historical Society. "There have been urban legends that many years ago a man named George was carrying coal and was struck by lightning and killed. Also a deputy accidentally killed a prison inmate."
