Dr. Ciaran O’Keefe of Living TV’s Most Haunted plans to conduct an experiment to see if low-frequency noises are responsible for the paranormal activity in Mary King’s Close. This experiment will be one of the highlights of Edinburgh’s 2007 Ghost Fest, which is scheduled to take place from May 11 - 20.
O’Keefe and his team will lay pipes around the underground close, which will emit less than 20Hz of infrasound, which barely brushes the human perception. Then he will invite individuals from the public in for a brief tour in order to see exactly where they experience the most paranormal activity. If they experience more activity around the areas where the pipes are located, this may prove his theory that hums are responsible for the hauntings that people have experienced.
“Low frequency sound is legendary – from military weapons to the tiger’s roar and now to haunted houses,” said O’Keefe. “This event hopes to uncover some of the truth behind the legends.”
