Harrodsburg Home to Haunted House

Since 2000, community groups like Harrodsburg First have been busy
restoring the 1840's greek revival home known as Diamond Point which now
houses their offices.
"We're really into preserving homes and our heritage," says Sarah
Jackson, executive director of Harrodsburg First.
But Harrodsburg's Diamond Point isn't just about preserving stories and
it's beautiful architectural history. It's apparently still home to its
original inhabitants.

"Some doors slamming things like that," recalls Jackson.
"I heard this noise and I looked over and the table was turned over and
the flower arrangement was on the floor and the closet door was open,"
says Brenda Sexton, executive director of Harrodsburg Chamber of
Commerce.

They knew it was a job for the Kentucky Shadow Chasers.
"Usually the first thing people say is please don't think I'm crazy,"
says Felicia Patterson.
But seasoned investigators Felicia and Joe Patterson, founders of KY
Shadow Chasers, take these situations very seriously.
"This is a lot more common than people think."
They've not only seen their fair share of spirits

...
"I've seen two ghosts with the naked eye," says Joe.
They've felt them.
"With the parabolic microphone I've had the headphones pulled off my
head.....that was in Iowa," Joe continued.
With nine years of expertise under their belt, the shadow chasers never
know what to expect
... And their evening at Diamond Point was no different.
Equipped with a DVMR system, cameras, digital recorders, electromagnetic
meters, and laser thermometers, the shadow chasers set up shop.
Four and a half hours later ... They found their ghost
"I jumped up and had to rewind up and had to rewind it 50 times,"
remembers Joe.
And the best part is it's all caught on tape.
Investigators believe it's either Zeletta Curry or her companion Clara
Chapelle who lived here in the 1800's.

"There is no doubt in my mind that this is paranormal, this is a
spirit."
Patterson says they've ruled out any possibility that it was a light
source or a trick of the camera.
"So there's no other excuse. No other car lights or anything. We've
ruled out every possibility so that only leaves us with the
impossibility."
("Don't you ever get a little spooked?)
No.

("Not even a little bit?)
No. I've never been spooked yet."
And now, even with proof, the diamond point's employees aren't either.
"I just say come in ladies have a seat and visit for awhile," says
Sexton.

Just how long they'll stay is anyone's guess.
