Haunted House in Carson, ND KXMBTV
Watch Video
Do you believe in ghosts? Whether you do or don't, this next story may at least have you believing in the unexplained. As Julie Cronin reports from an old home in Carson, its new owners believe because they've seen.(Sound): music...(Lawrence Cummins, Owner of Haunted House): "Doors close and open."(Sound): music...(Lawrence): "It was right here by this door that the little girl was standing."(Lawrence): "She just watched TV with us for a while, and then... gone."(Sound): music...(Lawrence): "I've seen them. I have to believe."(Sound): music...(Julie Cronin, KX News): Lawrence Cummins and his family had heard the haunted tales about their new home before they ever moved in last June. People within Carson shared stories that date back years. And the director of the children's program that used to run out of this house until recently had some stories of her own.
(Lawrence): "She just said that things happened in here that couldn't be explained."(Sound): "You might even pick one up on camera."(Cronin, KX News): But stories aside, the Cummins family had their hearts set on the home. Once a hospital in the early 1900's, this was the place they'd now call home. (Sound): "You want to go upstairs? This is where Matthew sees them."(Cronin, KX News): But then, a month after moving in... (Sound): walking up staircase...(Cronin, KX News): ...the Cummins' son, Matthew woke up with startling news.(Lawrence): "He just said there was a (refers to wife to recall incident) tall woman, dressed in white upstairs, and he caught her out of the corner of his eyes and then turned and looked at her and knew what she was immediately."(Lawrence): "Right here in the hallway is where he's seen that lady."(Cronin, KX News): And then Lawrence himself was startled.(Lawrence): "I've seen a lady (refers to wife to recall incident). Was it upstairs or downstairs? But she wasn't in white. She was just in old-fashioned clothing... 20's, 30's clothing."00:09:27 (Reporter): "When you saw her... is she looking at you? (Lawrence): "Yes. She's looking right at you."(Cronin, KX News): And then a third sighting....
(Lawrence): "And then here about (refers to wife)... what was it?... two nights ago, three nights ago?... when that little girl was standing right by the door there. She stood there about a minute. We were all here watching TV. A little girl with long black hair and pale skin and I can't gell you what she was wearing 'cause I was looking at her hair and her face. She, I figure, was about six years old. (Reporter): "Who do you think that the women and the girl might be?" (Lawrence): "I dont' know."(Lawrence): "I think she might be a little girl who might have died here and just doesn't want to go on."
(Cronin, KX News): At night, people passing by outside often report seeing the attic lit up.(Sound): banging doorway to upstairs loft...(Lawrence): "There's windows on the outside of this loft up in here. And people say they've seen the light on in there, but there's no light in there."(Cronin, KX News): In fact, there's no electricity up there at all.(Reporter): "And you're a normal, typical guy aren't you?" (Lawrence): "Yeah... as far as I know. (turns to wife) "Am I normal and typical dear?" (laughing)(Reporter): "But you're sure that you've seen something?" (Lawrence): "Oh yeah. When I look at them it's like looking at you. I know what I'm seeing."(Reporter): "Do you think you'll see them again?" (Lawrence): "Oh, I'm sure we will. I have no doubts."(Cronin, KX News): If seeing is believing, Lawrence Cummins says he has no doubts. (Lawrence): "You know, a lot of people won't believe something until they see it. Well, I've seen it, so I have no choice."(Cronin, KX News): And so as long as the Cummins family is living in this old Carson home, they'll just have to share the space with someone... or something... else.
(Lawrence): "Well, we're living in their home. (laughing) "They're not living in ours. We're living in theirs."(Cronin, KX News): In Carson, Julie Cronin, KX News.
