NIGHTCLUB RENOVATIONS STIR UP GHOSTS (Original headline: CLUB'S A HAUNT FOR BUILDERS )
Spooked builders claim a night club they are renovating in a former church is haunted. They were brought in to tear down an internal wall, the last original one in the building. But workers are said to have heard voices and seen lights swaying, apparently for no reason. A secretary has also noticed the ghostly, blurred faces of children in site photographs sent back to their head office.
Now one man has refused to return to work at the Ministry Nightclub in Aberdeen's Dee Street. Club boss Mike Wilson said yesterday: "The lens was clear when the photographs were taken. "But when they reached head office, a woman there noticed a baby's face and a skull. "People can see different things but the common thread is that they all see people's faces.
"They're not seeing giraffes or pink elephants - they all see human features. "One guy walked off the job and won't come back and there's another guy who won't even go to the toilet himself.
"The boys are from Sunderland and the site foreman's an ex-rugby player. "They are all big lads but I don't think any of them would stay in the building themselves."
Labourer Patrick McCullough, 25, with contractors SMG Retail Interiors, said: "Once a string of floodlights starting waving and there was no draught because the doors were shut.
"One of the boys said to the rest of us, 'If these lights go out, I'm off.' They went out one by one. He dashed downstairs and won't go back up by himself."
