Houses vacant & haunted By Azlan Othman 6/11/06
Ghostly tales have been making the rounds that have left houses vacant or is it that spirits are moving into vacant houses?
Frequent encounters of ghostly apparitions are said to have left some houses vacant, one of which is at Kg. Perpindahan Lambak Kanan, where residents claim they spotted "spirits wandering" at the haunted house around dusk. Word-of-mouth has it that the ghost is also spotted at houses left unoccupied or abandoned for years.
"One thing that comes to my mind when I come across this ghost is to recite Quranic verses or 'to greet' in accordance to the religion before entering the house," said a resident who previously encountered this paranormal scene. In one instance, an occupant of a newly-renovated house in Rimba, saw a ghostly appearance swinging near his rooftop. The hot spots are at the coastal highway road, banyan trees, fishing ponds, beaches and most recently a school, with security personnel on night shift being the ones frequently coming across paranormal incidents.
The usual claim is a ghostly lady floating and dressed in a white cloth, or hovering and headless or appearing in black with red eyes. "I just let it passby, without disturbing them, or else I will catch cold the next day," another man said. Believe it or not, by the time these ghostly sightings reach the public, the story has gone out of proportion.
Stories come and go, for some a simple explanation, or is it just a figment of our imagination?
