GHOST-HUNTERS CALLED 09:50 - 08 June 2006
One of North Cornwall's best-known historic sites plays host to a team of expert ghost-hunters. The National Trust's Old Post Office at Tintagel is getting a few visitors of a different sort tomorrow in the form of members of the Paranormal Research Organisation.
The group will be visiting the building during the evening to undertake their investigations. Anthony Watson, of the PRO, said the group had undertaken similar investigations at the Wellington Hotel, Boscastle, earlier in the year. Kelly Palmer, custodian of the National Trust property, said the organisation had phoned her to see if they could investigate the Old Post Office. She said: "I have had a lot of people say there is a presence in the house. I have always felt it is very warm and welcoming. "When I first came here the lights on the stairwell used to flicker. "They would flicker for quite a long time and then just a few short bursts." It reminded Kelly of Morse code so she applied the code to the flashes and came up with the name "Mrs Noah".
Some time ago she looked up the archives and found the name - but recent attempts to rediscover it have failed and she is beginning to wonder if she imagined it! However, she says since then she has walked into the building in the morning and said: "Good morning, Mrs Noah". "I would sooner she knew I was friendly," said Kelly, who will be in the building overnight with her guests.
"I have had a lot of people over the last few years say there is someone in the south bedroom above the post room. They say it is a little old lady in Victorian dress lying in the bed or behind the child's cradle."
