Many people are preparing for an unusual conference this weekend that focuses entirely on paranormal activity.

A former resident of the Harrisville house that inspired the horror movie, "The Conjuring,” is one of the guest speakers.

At the Assembly Theatre in Harrisville, Andrea Perron and a dozen other experts on different factions of the paranormal will be holding seminars and sharing stories at "Ocean State Paracon."

“They can come and get an education and ask questions of people that have been doing this for decades,” Perron told NBC 10 News.  “It's a wonderful event in terms of curiosity.”

Perron went on to tell NBC 10 exclusively about her plans to make her own movies about her family's experiences in that house in Harrisville.

She said the movie captured the essence of some of what took place in that Harrisville house in the 1970s, but that some liberties were taken.

“You can't compress 10 years into two hours” said Perron.

So, she is currently in negotiations for a multi-million dollar deal with a number of companies to turn the trilogy of her books, "House of Darkness, House of Light," into her own trilogy of movies.

“Because it does cover the expanse of 10 years - because it does have a truly expansive story to tell,” Perron said. “Most of my readers are saying that they're leaving the trilogy feeling very hopeful and inspired, and that's the whole reason that I decided to tell the story.”

The original old house, where the Perron family lived for a decade - and was subjected, they say, to hauntings and paranormal experiences - still stands. It is owned by another family, but has recently been put on the market.

“I think that everything happens precisely the way that it's supposed to,” Perron said. “And that if I'm supposed to have that farm back somewhere down the road, I will.”

As wildly successful as "The Conjuring" was, Perron believes with total creative control her movies will have an even greater impact, not just monetarily, but in connecting with others who are truly intrigued about the paranormal.

“If spirit exists, that's proof that life goes on in some other realm, in some other form” said Perron.

The Ocean State Paracon will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2015 from 12 noon to 7 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
