CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
The city is considering adding a 'haunted' Walnut Hills elementary school to the list of historical landmarks.
The school is located at 937 Windsor street. Built in 1888, the school closed in 2004 but has found new life in recent years as a haunted tour attraction. Now the city is considering making it a historical landmark.
"I think it is very weird because what is haunted about it is what is bothering me," says Karen Powell, who lives in Walnut Hills.
Powell says traffic around the closed Windsor Elementary School has picked up in the last few years due to paranormal tours. Now, potential developers are looking to turn this once haunted school house into apartments. The city is considering adding it to the list of local historic landmarks in an effort to preserve it. It is a move Powell says will do wonders for her neighborhood.
"The refurbishing is beautiful. I think the sandblasting brought the building alive again. I really do. I think it would put a new spin on the neighborhood," says Powell.
The Neighborhoods Committee will hold a meeting Monday March 24th to discuss adding it to the historic registry.
