SAN ANTONIO - A 47-year-old unsolved murder case at the historic Gunter Hotel is grabbing the attention of psychics and paranormal investigators. They believe the ghost of the murderer; Walter A. Emerick, is haunting the hotel room where the killing took place.
It's a case surrounded by mystery dating back to 1965 when Walter A. Emerick checked himself into room 636 at the Gunter Hotel.
Paranormal investigator Guillermo Fuentes has been researching the unsolved murder for the past eight years. He even wrote a book about it.
“The phenomenon has been reported since the 1960's, 70's. 80's. I mean, this happened 47-years ago, and throughout that time period, not only employees, but also guests have reported strange occurrences,” explained Fuentes.
Those unexplained happenings have prompted Fuentes to conduct his own paranormal investigations. He has since learned that Walter’s ghost likes to attack women. Fuentes even captured two of those attacks on tape.
“He manifested in a violent way, attacking one of the psychics. We did capture a bright light about the size of a softball making contact with the face of one of the psychics,” said Fuentes.
The video was recorded in 2005. Soon after the attack, the woman reported feeling as if she had been punched in the face.
A second incident took place in 2008 when a man and a woman were re-enacting what is believed to have led up to the killing.
The latest investigation took place on Friday the 13th, just a few days ago. Fuentes believes a soft muffled voice was captured on tape saying “get out.” There were other strange occurrences that same evening.
Since 1965, the Gunter Hotel has undergone renovations, so room 636 is now listed as room 621.
