Lady Gaga haunted by ghosts of the past

Lady Gaga has a penchant for being in the news, almost always for wrong reasons. After being on the wrong side of PETA for posing on Vogues Hommes Japan wearing nothing but pieces of raw meat strung together, Lady Gaga is in the limelight once again. This time, she is accused of stealing the musical style and fashion sense of her ex-collaborator, the late Lina Morgana.

Lady Gaga, who was then known as Stefani Germanotta, and Lina Morgana had been brought together by music producer Rob Fusari in 2007 in the hopes that the formers lyrics and the latter’s voice could be combined into a hit and powerful combination. They recorded quite a few numbers together in the same. It was at that time that Lady Gaga got hooked to Lina’s sense of fashion and her musical and artistic nuances, which she was to copy later on.

Lady Gaga’s ex-collaborator, Lina, then 19 years old, committed suicide just a year after the duo began recording songs together and creating some good music. Just a month later, Stefani transformed into Lady Gaga, almost duplicating Lina’s eccentric and outlandish style. Though none of the songs that the duo recorded were released, some of them found their way to the internet. Lina’s mother Yana Morgana claims that Lady Gaga used some of these songs on her debut album.

“Lady GaGa is holding Lina’s soul and I want her soul to be free,” said Lina’s mother, adding, “I’m doing this because I want to keep her spirit alive.” Yana Morgana is seeking the rights of some of the songs that Lina had sung with Lady Gaga, so that she can release them and give her daughter her due.

Lady Gaga and Lina’s similarities, that triggered off Yana to accuse the former of copying her daughter was also noticed by Lina’s boyfriend Tyler Schwab. Tyler claims that he was shocked when he saw Lady Gaga perform on screen because of the striking similarities the image had with Lina. “It was the same style, the same look, the same music, the same voice, the same jaw line – the way they expressed themselves,” said Schwab. “And I was like, ‘Is that Lina?’ It was so, so shocking. It was like looking at a ghost,” he added.

Lady Gaga, it seems, is being haunted by the ghosts of her past. It now remains to be seen how she exorcises the demon and rises again!
