The Syfy network has helped to bring the real life paranormal to the mainstream. Shows like Ghost Hunters and Destination Truth have inspired real people to come forward with their own paranormal evidence. The problem is, many hoaxsters have also submitted their footage making outlets like YouTube filed with a large numbers of videos that leave viewers wondering FACT OR FAKED?
Because of this, Syfy had the brilliant idea of developing a new show, Fact or Faked Paranormal Files, that’s sole purpose is to substantiate armature evidence. A credible team made up of a special effects specialist, an ex-FBI agent, a photography expert, a scientist, a stunt expert, and a journalist investigate popular paranormal evidence and determine if it’s Fact or Faked.
In episode one, the team analyzes a popular YouTube video that has generated over 5 million hits. It’s taken from the camera in a Georgia police car and it features a car chase that ends with a vehicle seemingly driving through a fence and then disappearing. The team head out to Georgia to interview the Policeman and use their state of the art equipment to determine if the footage can be explained by science or if it’s paranormal. What’s great about this case is that the footage was taken by a police car’s camera which makes it more credible than your average YouTube video.
To give you a better idea of what this show is all about, try to think of Destination Truth mixed with MythBusters. The team will recreate the events of their evidence to see if there is any way it could have been faked. It’s an amazingly interesting show and well worth checking out. If you are a fan of the paranormal then this show is definitely for you.
