'The Beast' star Patrick Swayze is 'kicking butt' in cancer battle, says Whoopi Goldberg

"He's kicking butt," Goldberg told Us Weekly. "And, you know, he's sick. And he, like the rest of us, doesn't know when it's going to happen - because it will happen, that he is going to go - but he doesn't know when or where."

The 56-year-old actor announced he's battling pancreatic cancer more than a year ago, but that hasn't stopped him from working.

"His attitude is, why wait for it to happen?" Goldberg says. "So he's busy as hell."

Swayze, who denied reports in March that he is nearing "the end," is both writing and acting. The actor is working on a memoir and just finished filming the first season of A&E's crime drama, "The Beast."

The show's season finale is on April 23, but A&E is uncertain whether "Beast" will be back.

"As has been the case from day one, it is all about Patrick - in a lot of ways," A&E president Bob DeBitetto told the Associated Press.

"It is about his condition, and when and whether he would be up for another grueling production schedule."
