Body found in 'haunted house'
THE next-door neighbour of a man who was found dead in his home has spoken of her shock after discovering the lifeless body slumped on the floor.
Kylie Thornhill, 22, of 50 Ives Road, was heading out of her house in Langley on Sunday afternoon when she was approached by a group of teenagers who had broken into the run-down property next door believing it to be a haunted house, only to find a dead body in one of the rooms.
Miss Thornhill, revealed: “My sister was round and I was just seeing her out when this gang of kids came up to me and said there was a dead person lying on the floor of the house next door.
“I thought they were winding me up so I went in to have a look and saw a tall figure lying face down in one of the rooms, it looked like he had been there over night. This was around 4.30pm and I called the police straight away.”
The man, believed to have been Philip Crosby and aged in his early 40s, was described as a 'recluse’ by a number of residents who claim that he had kept little contact with the outside world after inheriting the house from his parents about 14 years ago.
Miss Thornhill continued: “To be honest I was shocked by what I saw and have been pretty worried about the whole thing for the past few days. I think the kids thought the place was an old haunted house but they didn’t seem that shaken when they told me about the body, one girl even wanted to go back in and take a picture on her mobile.”
A police investigation is ongoing, although officers are not treating the death as suspicious.
A police spokeswoman, confirmed: “The body of a man was found at a house in Ives Road in Langley on Sunday by a group of teenagers who had broken in and were exploring. Considering the circumstances no further action will be taken against them.”
