At a sold-out 20th anniversary midnight screening of
Elvira, Mistress of the Dark in Hollywood this weekend, Elvira herself (aka Cassandra Peterson) let the audience in on some plans that are brewing in 2009.
The horror hostess says she's in talks with the Reelz Channel for a new television program. She wouldn't offer specifics on what the show would be, however.
Also, if another feature film is to get rolling any time soon, it will most likely animated. (Perhaps she was inspired while recording vocals for Rob Zombie's animated flick
The Haunted World of El Superbeasto?) Her last celluloid outing came in 2001 with
Elvira's Haunted Hills.
What Peterson has especially been pushing for is a proper special edition of 1988's
Mistress of the Dark. Peterson revealed if DVD distributor Anchor Bay were up to the task, she has loads of behind-the-scenes footage featuring star cameos who dropped by the set and an alternate ending.
From the sounds of it, she might be ready for a commentary as she told the audience a few revealing tidbits about the making of film. According to her, both Brad Pitt and George Clooney auditioned for the leading teenager part in
Mistress of the Dark.
Peterson then slipped into the lobby post-Q&A for a fan meet 'n greet that lasted well past 3am.
