We want to thank everyone who’s been weighing in on what’s happening with Jim and Melinda’s story. As always, we’ve been paying close attention to what you all have to say online, and everyone here at Ghost Whisperer appreciates your passion. If you have more to say, we hope you’ll also hit the CBS Message Boards.
As you know, three-and-a-half years ago, the Ghost Whisperer pilot launched Jim and Melinda’s relationship with their wedding. Because you, our fans, embraced their relationship so passionately (as evidenced online over the years) and because of the immense depth of talent and chemistry that Jennifer Love Hewitt (Melinda) and David Conrad (Jim) have on screen, we wanted to give Ghost Whisperer fans more of Jim and Melinda, in a deeper, richer way. That’s why with next Friday’s episode, “Heart and Soul”, we at Ghost Whisperer are rebooting Jim and Melinda’s love story. They will get something very few people ever get in life — a second chance at true love. Starting with Episode 408 — the key to moving forward in Season 4 — Ghost Whisperer fans will get to experience Jim and Melinda falling in love from the beginning.
Next Friday’s very special episode was beautifully written by executive producer P.K. Simonds and co-executive producer Mark B. Perry. (P.K. and the Ghost Whisperer writing team are doing a brilliant job of engineering this amazing journey for all of us!) The episode was directed by Ian, who says Jennifer Love Hewitt and David Conrad were magical to work with on this show. And, while shooting the powerful scene between Delia (Camryn Manheim) and Melinda, the crew was moved to tears. The episode guest stars Screen Actors Guild nominee Roxanne Hart (Chicago Hope), Cotter Smith (X-Men 2), Todd Stashwick (The Riches), Ellen Woglom (Viva Laughlin) and Kenneth Mitchell (Jericho).

Musically, the episode features our new favorite band — the UK ’s chart topping The Script (Sony BMG). Check out the world premiere of the Ghost Whisperer “Second Chance at Love” music video featuring The Script’s hit song “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved,” which was edited by Tony Miller and Peter Tadros. Other music featured in the episode in addition to Mark Snow’s gorgeous score are: Paul Freedman “Earthquakes” (RCA/Arista Records); Indy artists Holly Conlan “One, Two, Three”; Latch Key Kid “Thin Air”; Shawn Barry “Say You Will”.

We want to commend series creator John Gray for the fantastic job that he did in writing and directing last Friday’s episode — it was incredibly powerful. While John was shooting the “dancing” scene (which features the 1966 rock ‘n roll classic “Good Lovin’” by The Rascals; Atlantic Records) that reunites Jim and Melinda, the actors, the extras and the crew were moved beyond belief. (We go through a lot of Kleenex during production on this show — but always in the name of ‘hope’). In the episode, you might recognize Golden Globe winner Joanna Cassidy (Six Feet Under), Young Artist Award winner Alexa Nikolas (Zoey 101), Saturn Award winner Thomas F. Wilson (Back to the Future III) and Rodney Scott (NCIS). They all did a fabulous job.
You should also know that while everything with Jim and Melinda has been going on over the past two weeks, Jennifer Love Hewitt was directing. (She certainly had a full plate.) Love is finished now and will be stepping into the edit room to create more magic. She sends you her best from the set. David Conrad was up in our offices on Thursday and wanted us to relay to you that he is stunned and flattered by the buzz online — he’s amazed that you all care for Jim so much. He asked that we thank you for your support and he wants you to know he’s loving the journey. So are we!
One last thing: Over the next couple of weeks, Jim is going to need some serious help remembering his past with Melinda. We hope you, our Ghost Whisperer experts, will lend him a hand.
As always, thanks for watching, and make sure to check back next week when we share more Ghost Whisperer goodies.
