‘Poltergeist’ remake might have a director
Movies News
Vadim Perelman is in talks with MGM to develop and direct the studio’s remake of the classic horror film "Poltergeist."
If he signs, Perelman would work with writers Juliet Snowden and Stiles White (who were picked up last week to pen a new version of the 1982 film), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The original film featured a classic haunted-house story filled with all kinds of childhood fears. It was directed by horror icon Tobe Hooper from a script co-written by Steven Spielberg.
It followed an ordinary family who discovers their house is haunted and then are pulled into extraordinary supernatural events – which reportedly appealed to Perelman.
The filmmaker has directed 2003’s "House of Sand and Fog" (his debut) and last year's "The Life Before Her Eyes."
Perelman was once tied to Spielberg's long in development "Talisman" – which is an adaptation of the Stephen King-Peter Straub novel. He also had ties to the World War II drama "Truce" for Warner Independent.
