When Halloween rolls around each year, millions of people around the United States are looking to experience a paranormal experience, and when it comes to this holiday, “haunted houses” are extremely popular! Instead of just going to some haunted house that someone made out of a barn, why not gather a group of your friends and visit a REAL haunted house this Halloween? Here, I will list some of the most popular places to go that are sure to provide a shriek and a thrill this fall!
In Villisca, Iowa there is a home that lies in a remote, still section of the State. Villisca, once considered to be popular and well populated now holds a deep, dark secret that seems to linger like a dark cloud over their small, quaint town – a secret of murder and tragedy….On June 10th, 1912, the Moore family, who were quite popular in the town, were all murdered in their home. The family members including the mother and father, Josiah Moore and Sarah Moore, and their children, Paul, Boyd, Herman, and Catherine. In addition to this, two children who were friends with the family, Ina and Lena Stillinger had been at the home and were also murdered.
These individuals were all asleep when the murders took place…a mysterious, and evil individual that was never discovered slipped through the darkness and took an ax to each of their heads….what was found the next dead, a bloody scene of murder…brought darkness to this lively town, and it would never be the same again. Rumors of spirits in and around the Moore House circulate around the town to this day. This Halloween, if you visit this real haunted house, you may be able to hear a hint of children’s laughter, people talking, and maybe even the passing of the evil spirit that took the lives of these people….
