Spirits on the move at haunted hotel
PARANORMAL investigators found that a number of vacant rooms at a Llangollen hotel were "anything but vacant."
Wrexham paranormal research group, Spirit Quest UK, has just finished analysing footage of its recent investigation at The Hand Hotel in Llangollen.
The Hand Hotel is an old coaching inn which dates back to the 17th century and the group decided to investigate the hotel after reading stories about ghostly goings on there.
The group was very excited in the run-up to the investigation, especially after members were told of more ghostly happenings after an article appeared in the Evening Leader.
Spirit Quest UK director Howard Hughes said: "After the article in the Leader I had a call from a man who worked at the Hand Hotel in the 1980s who was walking in the basement when he encountered a man in a leather apron tapping on a beer barrel. He walked past thinking it was a workman but later found out that he was supposed to be the only one in the basement. When he returned there was no one there."
Among the spooks that have supposedly been seen in the hotel, there is a lady in grey who is said to walk the corridors at night and a figure who is regularly seen standing by an organ.
According to Mr Hughes, during the five-hour investigation the group heard strange voices, knocking on the walls in response to questions and saw a number of bright orbs, all of which were "caught on camera".
Among the investigators were 20 members of the public as well as noted writer on the paranormal, Richard Holland.
Mr Hughes said: "It was fantastic having Richard Holland with us. I have read his books over and over again and in fact his writings helped fuel an interest in the paranormal within me. He is such a wonderful and learned person and everyone enjoyed meeting him. I highly recommend reading his books, they are brilliant."
Mr Hughes said that the investigation had been a huge success and that two mediums who joined the group even identified some of the spirits.
He added: "Our mediums, Carol and Lesley, came up with a wealth of information and thanks to them we now know that the spirit that haunts one room is a middle-aged man, an employee at the Hand, who hung himself after finding out that his wife was pregnant with her lover's child. We also found out that it is his wife who haunts the two other rooms known to be haunted as she died during childbirth in the room which would have then been one large room.
"According to Carol, another room was haunted by a man called Albert, a stable lad who had died there from TB and his sister Sarah had nursed him in his last days where she said he used to lie and listen to the sound of the river rushing by. Dressed in grey and white, we believe her to be a likely candidate for the hotel's grey lady."
Highlights of the investigation can be seen on the group's website at www.spiritquestuk.co.uk.
The group is now trying to secure its next haunted location and anyone wishing to put their names down for a place should contact 05602942919 or email them from an address found on their website.
